Sex Art is a documentary about artistic representations of sex in contemporary America. The film catalogues the work of a variety of artists, from photographers and painters to burlesque dancers and porn directors, profiling the creators and examining their obsessions. At the center is Stagliano, his work, and his obscenity case. His influential style and approach to filmmaking have reached far beyond the world of pornography. But is his work obscene?

David Fine is originally from Seattle and currently lives in San Francisco. His background in film production includes directing numerous short documentaries and music videos, as well as working as an editor in both Los Angeles and San Francisco.
